Between the cities of Shrewsbury and Birmingham in the county of Shropshire lies the fast-expanding new town of Telford.
Projected to have a population of over 200,000 in the next two decades, the town sprung up during the 1960's and is today focussed around its popular retail complex, the Telford Shopping centre.
Surrounded by picturesque countryside, including the stunning Ironbridge Gorge, and bordered by the River Severn, Telford prides itself on its mix of urban and rural attractions.
Despite the fact that Telford as a town in its own right is very much a new creation, there is also a palpable sense of history about the area - the town makes great store of the fact that the early stages of the Industrial Revolution took place there.
An extensive regeneration programme has recently been undertaken by the local council, meaning that the town's retail district and nightlife will be substantially enhanced.
